Motorworks – Bridgestone 2 Hour

Well what a huge weekend of racing it was for the 2019 Motorworks/Bridgestone 2 Hour. As per usual, the 2 hour threw up plenty of surprises and challenges to provide a fascinating race, but in the end it was Kurt Sushames and Kyle Buckley who put in another faultless performance to emerge as victors in the Superbike class making it back to back wins. Brad Hughes who was riding solo put in one of the rides of his career to take second place, and a very deserving third place went to Scott Honeychurch and Damian Faulds who finished the race minus one footpeg.

In the 600 class, Jason Spencer and Scott Campbell showed their class and put in an impeccable performance to take the win. Ted Collins and Hamish Sellers claimed an impressive second place after a hectic weekend of mechanical issues and bike changes, and an outstanding third place went to Josh Rees and Matt Carey.

The Lites 20 lapper provided one of the highlights of the weekend with Joel Kelso and Liam Waters trading blows at the front for the entire 20 laps. It was still anyone’s race as they started the last lap, but it was Liam Waters who managed to maintain a slight margin and lead to the finish line and take the win, and in doing so set the fastest lap of the race and a new class record of 56.113. Taran Ocean also put in a great performance to pick up the final podium position. In the production class, Joel Benson took the honours from Darren Trotter and Chloe Honeychurch.

And let’s not forget the handicap feature race where an ecstatic Carla Munday took her first ever race win from Chris Eaton and Karen Webb.
